Willem Smit manufactures its first transformer for the Nederlandsche Spoorwegen/Dutch Railways in Ridderkerk

1913

Willem Smit founds a transformer factory in Nijmegen

1931

Basic insulation levels reach 525kV

1968

Basic insulation levels reach 1.500kV

1969

SMIT Transformers forms Holec Group with Hazemeijer, Coq en Heemaf

1982

A much reduced number of Smit employees participate in 50% of the share
capital

1988

Smit Transformers is the first transformer manufacturer in the world to achieve ISO 9001 certification.

1989

N.V. Koninklijke Begemann Groep takes over all shares from employees and Holec.

1994

October Begemann sells all shares

SMIT is listed on the Amsterdam stock market

Smit becomes part of RWE within the SGB Group

HCP Capital Group acquires SGB Group

Fit For Future campaign – 95 year Anniversary
